League Rules

GENERAL LEAGUE RULE INFORMATION

We are excited to host your team at Salt City Sports. Our goal is to create a truly memorable experience for your team.  

General Facility Rules:

  • All fields are off limits except for scheduled games.
  • All foul balls need to be returned to the playing field.
  • Portable chairs and pop-up tents are permitted. 
  • Pets are permitted at all Salt City Sports facilities. Please pick up after your pet. 
  • Teams are expected to remove trash from the dugout after each game.
  • No tobacco use of any kind is allowed at Salt City Sports tournaments or events.
  • No seeds or gum will be permitted at Carrier Park in the dugouts or on the fields. 
    • There is a zero tolerance policy for seeds, and teams will be charged a $250 fee if in violation of this rule.
  • Please remind your players and fans to pick up their trash after each game.
  • Pre-game warm up / catch play in the outfield only.
  • Pitchers may warm up next to the dugout or in the bullpens before and during the game.
  • Do not hit/throw any balls into the fences or walls.
  • No metal spikes on portable mounds.
  • Absolutely no person is permitted outside the dugout unless coaching a base.
  • Food and coolers are not permitted in the parks. We have concessions on site to accommodate food and beverage needs. While we do not allow individual coolers, one team cooler is permitted.

Registration Policy:

Salt City Sports requires any team registering for a league to make a non-refundable deposit payment. Registration for all events is limited. Payment in full for all events is due 30 days prior to the start of the event.

Your final payment will be automatically billed to the method of payment used for your deposit. See registration pages for specific details. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted online and by phone.

Salt City Sports requires all requests for refunds to be made in writing 30 days prior to the start of the event.


Other:

Salt City Sports in all events (tournaments, leagues, rentals) is not responsible for any injury to spectators, fans, coaches, and players or damage to personal items and vehicles due to foul balls and overthrows. Salt City Sports is also not responsible for theft or the loss of personal items.

Rules

Adult League Rules

RULES FOR ALL LEAGUES

Grace Period:

  • STRICT 10 minute grace period will ONLY be for the first games of the day. Teams must have AT LEAST 8 players from the roster present to play and can borrow two players from another team to avoid a forfeit (except playoffs). Teams can start with eight players. Teams CAN NOT have extra batters if they borrow players from another team.

Forfeits:

  • If your team forfeits a game, YOUR team is responsible for BOTH umpire fees for that week.
  • Teams will have to pay forfeit fees BEFORE they are allowed to play their next scheduled game.
  • To avoid a forfeit fee, teams MUST call and inform Salt City Sports BEFORE 1pm on the day of their scheduled game.

Equipment:

FACE MASK IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PITCHERS

Rosters:

  • All teams will receive line up cards. Teams will hand in an official line up to the umpires BEFORE the start of each game (top/white copy). The umpires will hand in lineup cards to SALT CITY SPORTS at the end of the game/night.
  • Players must play a minimum of four games in the spring/summer session to be eligible for playoffs. If a player is found to not have played enough games to be eligible, that team will forfeit the game.

ZERO-tolerance:

  • Salt City Sports and Hopkins Road Adult Leagues maintain a rigorous ZERO-tolerance policy of unsportsmanlike behavior. Any instances of unsportsmanlike conduct, including bat throwing, screaming profanity, physical altercations, taunting other players or teams before, during, and after the game, arguing with spectators, umpires, or workers will result in suspension from Hopkins Road Park and any Salt City Sports events. If anyone is found with a weapon in the park, they will be banned for life and a police statement will be filed. Outside Food & Beverage:

  • No outside alcohol or coolers and food are permitted within the Hopkins Road Park. Individuals found with coolers or outside alcohol will be instructed to vacate the premises. Receiving more than two warnings will result in a suspension from attending any event at Hopkins Road Park or any Salt City Sports event for the remainder of the year.

Selling Items in the Park:

  • No outside sales of merchandise (bats, gloves, etc.) or food and beverages are permitted within Hopkins Road Park without prior written approval. The request must detail the items to be sold and the proposed sales date. All requests must be submitted at least 30 days before the intended sales date. This prohibition includes selling items from vehicles and/or soliciting sales while walking around the park to fields. Please submit requests via email to info@saltcitysports.org. Anyone found selling items without approval will be banned from the Hopkins Road Park and any Salt City Sports events.

Dugouts & Grounds:

  • We will prohibit smoking in Hopkins Road Park if cigarettes are not disposed of properly. DO NOT THROW ON GROUND. We host children who play on these fields and in the park. NO SMOKING IN DUGOUTS AND ON FIELDS. If we have to clean dugouts with trash (including bottle caps, fruit peels, and so on) and cigarette butts, teams will be fined a $100 cleaning fee. The team will not be allowed to play the next scheduled game until the fee is paid.

Men's Upper League:

  • 1-1 count
  • No courtesy foul
  • ARC: 3ft (from release), 10ft (from ground)
  • Plate is DEAD
  • 3 HR’s per team (hit & sit) + DHH
  • If the DHH gets walked, the team gets 1 free HR that does NOT count towards the total for the team, ONLY until the DHH gets up again.
  • PUMP FAKES ALLOWED
  • 1 runner per inning (not including the pitchers)
  • Pitcher gets automatic runner that does not count towards the runner for the inning (if he chooses to have a runner).
  • ALL PITCHERS MUST WEAR A MASK
  • Run Rule:
    • 20 after 3 innings
    • 15 after 4 innings
    • 10 after 5 innings
  • If extra innings are played, the last out from the previous inning starts on 2nd base.
  • USSSA bats and balls only

Coed League:

  • Start with 1-1 count
  • 1 courtesy foul
  • Plate is LIVE
  • 6 guys 4 girls
  • 7 guys and 5 girls MAX (12)
  • You can bat an extra guy as an EH. If you have a 12th batter, that person MUST be a girl.
  • At least 4 girls MUST be in the lineup and in the field at ALL TIMES.
  • If you are missing a girl in the batting lineup, it is an OUT every time that spot comes up. If she is missing in the field, you MUST play with 6 guys and 3 girls, you can NOT have 7 guys on the field.
  • 180ft line in use ONLY when females are batting.
  • All 4 outfielders MUST start behind the line. If the ball is caught and the player is found to have started in front of the line, it is a dead ball and the batter is awarded 1st base.
  • Walk rule: If a guy that is batting IN FRONT of a girl is walked, that guy is awarded 2nd base REGARDLESS of how many outs there are. If there are LESS THAN 2 outs the girl must hit. With 2 outs, the girl chooses to hit or walk.
  • You must have 4 outfielders and 4 infielders and ALL TIMES (no 5 man).
  • Only using 12” balls
  • USSSA bats and balls only
  • 5 HR’s per game (hit & sit)
  • Run Rule:
    • 20 after 3 innings
    • 15 after 4 innings
    • 10 after 5 innings
  • If teams are tied, they must play extra innings to determine a winner.
  • Last out from the previous inning must start on 2nd base in extra innings.

Women’s League:

  • 1-1 count
  • 1 courtesy foul
  • 12 batters MAX
  • ARC: 3ft (from release), 10ft (from ground)
  • Plate is LIVE
  • 1 runner per inning
  • If the girl who needed a runner gets up in the same inning and gets on base again, she is allowed to have another runner (must be same girl that ran last time).
  • 5 HR’s per team (hit and sit)
  • USSSA bats and balls only
  • Run Rule:
    • 20 after 3 innings
    • 15 after 4 innings
    • 10 after 5 innings

Men’s Lower League:

  • 1-1 count
  • 1 courtesy foul
  • ARC: 3ft (from release), 10ft (from ground)
  • Plate is LIVE
  • 5 HR’s per team (hit and sit)
  • NO PUMP FAKES ALLOWED
  • 1 runner per inning
  • If the same batter reaches 1st in the same inning, that batter is allowed to get another runner.
  • Pitcher DOES NOT get an automatic runner.
  • Run Rule:
    • 20 after 3 innings
    • 15 after 4 innings
    • 10 after 5 innings
  • USSSA bats and balls only
  • Each team is allowed to have 2 “upper“ league players on their rosters.

Friday ASA Coed League:

  • Start with 1-1 count
  • 1 courtesy foul
  • MAT BALL
  • 6 guys 4 girls
  • 7 guys and 5 girls MAX (12)
  • You can bat an extra guy as an EH. If you have a 12th batter, that person MUST be a girl.
  • At least 4 girls MUST be in the lineup and in the field at ALL TIMES.
  • If you are missing a girl in the batting lineup, it is an OUT every time that spot comes up. If she is missing in the field, you MUST play with 6 guys and 3 girls. You can NOT have 7 guys on the field.
  • The outfielders must be behind the 180ft line when a girl is up to bat.
  • 5 MAN IS NOT ALLOWED
  • Limit of 5 home runs per game
  • Walk rule: If a guy that is batting IN FRONT of a girl is walked, that guy is awarded 2nd base REGARDLESS of how many outs there are. With LESS THAN 2 outs, the girl must hit. With 2 outs, the girl CHOOSES to hit or walk.
  • Runner rule: 1 runner per inning per sex (same inning, same runner)
  • ASA bats & balls ONLY
  • 6-12ft ARC
  • Run Rule:
    • 20 after 3 innings
    • 15 after 4 innings
    • 10 after 5 innings
  • If teams play extra innings, the last out from previous inning must start on 2nd base.
  • NO TIME LIMIT
  • FACE MASK IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PITCHERS
